Fillings
Used to prevent the spread of tooth decay and/or correct any cosmetic damage, a filling is just one of the ways our dentist preserves your oral health. We offer local anesthesia along with sedation in the form of nitrous oxide-oxygen and a sedative prescription to ensure maximum comfort for our patients if they desire. The type of filling our dentist provides is composite resin, the color of which can be customized to match your natural teeth.
Composite Resin Fillings
Since the color of a composite resin filling can be customized, it is the most aesthetically pleasing option. Composite resin is an option for repairing chipped or cracked teeth, filling in a gap between your teeth, correcting tooth discoloration, protecting an exposed tooth root after the gums have receded, patching a crown that has a porcelain fracture, or helping contour the shape of your teeth by bonding the composite resin onto the tooth or crown.
A trusted solution for tooth-colored fillings, composite resin fillings also create a tight seal on the tooth for long-lasting results.
Bioclear Fillings
Also used at our office for restoration services, the Bioclear matrix system creates a thin, durable shell around the teeth and produces a natural-looking color for a seamless tooth filling. Bioclear uses advanced injection molding technology and has been shown to produce a stronger bond to the tooth than other methods.
Glass Ionomer/Fuji Fillings
Glass ionomer fillings blend traditional cavity treatment with the latest and greatest technology. Glass ionomer is a flexible paste made from silicate glass powder and acts as a sealant that forms a direct bond with the tooth surface. Also known as a Fuji filling, this material and technology take dental fillings to a whole new level of long-term tooth protection.
Replacing Silver Fillings
Dental amalgam, also known as silver fillings, is a mix of mercury and other materials that have been used for as long as 150 years as a filling material for dental cavities. Over time, the mercury in these fillings has been shown to permanently stain teeth and cause other side effects, which is why many dentists now encourage patients to have silver fillings replaced with safer, more modern materials.
At Rachel Barnhart DDS, we are a mercury-free practice. Dr. Barnhart takes a holistic approach to dentistry and blends individualized care with modern technology to achieve great results and long-lasting oral health. Contact us today to schedule an appointment online with Dr. Barnhart today!
